Review of the shop
Digital Blue DB12011 Microscope
Pros: Installed the software onto my Asus Pentium M 1.7 laptop, kept wanting to connect to Verisign and Microsoft about 5 times, after that though it went quickly, maybe 3-4 minutes tops, plugged in the scope, and worked perfectly. Nice job.
Cons: The scope can be removed for handheld use, but there is no retention clip to keep it from falling out of the carrier if you pick it up and carry it to another room, so be careful.
Other Thoughts: It has a nice little storage compartment in the back. The sound effects are loud but there is a mute button which I turned on immediately. It captures in jpg and bitmap to wherever you choose 512x384, 150 dpi for jpg. I haven't tried the video, it apparently does time lapse as well. Out of the box I really like it. Also it is much bigger than the pics show, it is just under 11 inches high, larger and sturdier than I had expected from looking at the fotos. It also has both a top and bottom light, individually selectable with the very nice software, I am impressed. You just spin the magnification wheel by hand to change from 10x-60x-200x, very clear image, much better than I had expected. And it looks pretty cool too. Enjoy.
